Get Involved
Beyond the Vessel is a creative project exploring the history and evolution of reproductive autonomy in the United States. Through portraiture photography and video storytelling, I aim to hold space for those who want to share reproductive experiences, honor their presence through art, and bring personal testimony to the forefront of conversations about reproductive autonomy.
I am looking for people who have experienced adversity while receiving, providing or supporting access to reproductive healthcare and abortion care across the country. The stories of historically and presently oppressed people will take priority in this work. Although people with any background can get involved, the reproductive healthcare experiences of People of Color, Indigenous people, immigrants and refugees, young people, people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people, and folks who live in rural areas are strongly welcome.
If you would like to share your story, please fill out the form below with your name, a brief description of your experience, and how you found out about this project. If you're unsure about the types of experiences that are relevant for this project, you can view a list of examples here. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to email me at info@beyondthevessel.com.
Once you've submitted, I'll reach out to you in 1-2 days to answer your questions and schedule a meeting. During the initial meeting, we'll work together to create portraits at a location that is personal or comfortable to you. Visit the Frequently Asked Questions page to learn more about what is involved in the photo and video process.
If you change your mind about participating prior to our first photo shoot, you'll be under no obligation to continue with the project.

Donate to Beyond the Vessel
If you don't have a story to share but would still like to contribute to this work, please consider donating to Beyond the Vessel. With the goal of traveling across 15 states to photograph and collect the video testimonies of 50+ people, costs to create this work are ongoing. A donation of any size will help me purchase film, pay for processing, buy photo supplies, and afford travel and boarding across the country. Thank you!
